new acoustic broken social scene (almost crimes)

It's been some time since i've heard new broken social scene. That is, songs written for the band, played by the band. Not a side project.

Keeping that in mind here is a song we all know and love, but a lovely acoustic ver.

broken social scene - almost crimes (acoustic)

so when is the next broken social scene LP comming out? Who knows, what i REALLY want is for them to come back to Texas, and bring their birls with them.

The internet is funny again

If you haven't stumbled upon it yet, Funny or Die will change your life. It's better than YouTube because it's funny, so funny I spent most of my day on it and now I'm fucking blogging about it. What else can I tell you? It's the best thing since FARK, and shockwave games. To make it even better Zach Galifianakais, Will Ferrell, and john c. reilly post exclusive "home made" videos on there.

This is one of my favorites with Michael Cera and Zach Galifianakis

New Music Review for August

Jay Reatard is an independent artist out of Memphis with a bold new sound that few bands are ablum to pull off. But when they can it's something to behold. He is like a little of The Brian Jonestown Massacre mixed with yo la tengo, and a little Connor Oberst (sp) I have been listening to his new Jay Reatard_Deerhunter - Split 7'' -and he has an album out called Blood Visions both are on Matador so you can be assured of the artist quality ;) check him out. http://matadorrecords.com/jay_reatard/

The Real Tuesday Weld - At The End Of The World is new indie/jazz mixed with samples and some great vocals by Stephen Coats. I would find this album and listen to it as quick as possible. It's some amaizing stuff, I can't really do it justice. I first heard them yesterday listening to them play live on Morning Becomes Eclectic. being aw-struck I got it and have been listening to them ever since. The album is live but don't let that fool you the audio is top notch and the full sound comes through. http://www.tuesdayweld.com/

no suprise, the new Martha Wainwright album, I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too is amaizing. is sounds like the best tori album mixed with the best of Aimee Mann - while keeping her own special vocal attitude and texture. the songs are full and are well written, beautiful. http://www.marthawainwright.com/

Speaking of Aimee Mann, she has a new album out now too, and I'm so sure about it. I have not given it a full listen but it might grow on me. who knows. http://www.aimeemann.com/

Just stay away from Dan Deacon. I took a listen to his latest split / 7" and i just don't get it. http://www.myspace.com/dandeacon you might not want to click on that link it's his annoying music

The Great Northwest have an album out called The Widespread Reign of the Great Northwest It's getting alot of hype right now as an independent release and that's a good thing.

here is a great review that really puts teh album in perspective.

"from theseanshow.net/?p=1082

The Great Northwest is the baby of Brian Coates, who traveled from Portland to DC by way of New York to eventually build The Widespread Reign of the Great Northwest. Words like “psychedelic” and “shoegaze” will no doubt be tossed around to describe this record, and they’re not far off.

I played a couple songs for a couple good friends who wished to remain nameless. One of them said The Widespread Reign of… was “Neil Young fronting Mazzy Star, with lots of ketamine.” The other called it the long lost, best ever Lemonheads album. It’s not hard to imagine smoking a ton of pot driving cross country while listening to this record.

I’d like to see how these dreamy, meandering songs translate in a live show."

10 ways i need to grow up

this is exactly how i feel right now.

not really. it's hard to pin down how one feels, or to compress the whole into something one can relate to another person.

relatioships can be hard, on both involved. i need to learn that time and space are needed just as much as talking and relating to oneanother are. but if your heart is in it, and both partys are willing to invest in the same manner. the relationship will grow because of it.

this is the new Gnarls Barkley vid. "Who's Gonna Save My Soul?" great song, great vid.

Today, Clinton leads Obama by 14 points; down slightly from an 18-point lead one week ago.
Despite this movement, the polls have been consistent over time; in four polls, Clinton has never received less than 53% or more than 56% of the vote; Obama has never received less than 36% or more than 41%.

Watch Video [img] In a moment of weakness, I just watched Madonna's new video for '4 Minutes.' The world's best one-trick producer Timbaland has his obligatory introductory cameo, Justin Timberlake does his best Michael Jackson impression, and 49-year-old Madonna apes Christina Aguilera too a tee. Ugh, ugh, ugh. I generally like Madonna but after wasting '4 Minutes' of my life, all I can think about it what a self-absorbed egomaniac she has become over the years. Incidentally, that led me to think about my favorite song about icy, frigid, bitchy women. Watch this if you [...]"

Late last summer, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard retreated to the rustic California town of Big Sur to write songs for his band’s new record, and to commune with the spirit of his idol Jack Kerouac, who’d visited Big Sur almost a half-century ago. For this essay, we sent Gibbard back to his cabin in the woods to meditate on life, art and solitude."

Best Concert Of 2008 Alert: Grizzly Bear Opening For Radiohead - Stereogum: "Best Concert Of 2008 Alert: Grizzly Bear Opening For Radiohead

Believe it. The rumors on this thing moved around earlier, now the publicists are confirming it: Grizzly Bear is opening for Radiohead for some of the band's US summer shows. Feist, Paul Simon ... dudes are elevating their company by the minute. We're trying really hard not to use exclamation points here, so, yeah. Congrats, guys. Grizzly Bear, and the live shows, just seem to get bigger and bigger. For good reason.
Official dates come on Monday."

Exclaim! Canada's Music Authority: "Enter World's Fair. The Dandys have worked out a deal to launch their own Beat the World label with the management group that handle poppy musical oddities the Flaming Lips and British Sea Power. In the arrangement, World's Fair will take a smaller cut of of the licensing deals that have been the band's bread and butter.

'We've been functioning on our own as a band for a long time,' Holmstrom says. 'With World's Fair, they can provide all the business stuff that we need without any of the nonsense of a major. It's great, although a little scary, because if we screw this up, we have no one to blame but ourselves.'

The band will have the chance to sink or swim on their own terms with the tentatively titled Earth to the Dandy Warhols, a new album expected to be released later this year."
